- I am a retired police officer who has been writing for many years. I have a book in titled SOUTHERN GOLD. The story is about two billion dollars in gold that was hidden by the Confederate Soldiers before the end of the Civil War in 1864. 150 years later, the gold is found by a police major and his two co-harts who came up a with a brilliant scheme to take the gold for themselves and vanish into thin air without anyone knowing what had taken place. But there was only one problem, the gold was located where now stands a police precinct.
