They Do Remember: a story of soul survival is Sandy Cicero's autobiography. She is an incest survivor and recovering alcoholic. Her story begins with alcoholic and drug-addicted parents, she then moves on to Catholic orphanages, foster homes, and religious communes, and then full-circle into her own alcoholism and drug-addiction. Then one day she looked in the mirror and saw the person she had never wanted to become. Cicero candidly discusses the courage to break free--about how to stop living in denial, and move into healthy, happy relationships. She will help you: - Understand we do have a choice. - See that we can move from trauma to understanding and healing. - Find your own voice. Her message is about letting go of the victim mentality, and how to stop being a magnet for perpetrators. If we don't change our attitudes about our belief systems (the voices in our heads) we will continue to bring this baggage into our adult relationships.
Sandy grew up in Cleveland, Ohio and lived there until she was a young teen. She then moved to Southern California and Oregon before returning to Ohio, and then back to Southern California. Sandy got sober at the age of 26 and has never taken a drink since. She is a graduate of Saddleback College's (Mission Viejo, CA) Human Services department. She has been a published author for over 15 years, featured at the Los Angeles Times Book Festival, appeared on radio programs across the country, and hosted countless workshops on relationships, child abuse prevention, addiction and recovery.
