We work in corporate America and are constantly faced with the stigmatism of both race and gender when attempting to climb the corporate ladder. Coupled with the fact that many do not hold a college degree, and most would say that we are doomed to a career of mediocrity and pay on the low side of the scale.

A college degree often simply gets your foot in the door more easily. Once the job has been landed, the college degree won't move you up the ladder -- your work history and abilities will.
