Profile Information

Something About Me and My Book:
I grew up in several countries (New Guinea, the Philippines, Australia, India, Mexico, Canada) and am a "Worlder," AKA "Third Culture Kid" (TCK), "Global Nomad," etc. This has colored my entire life, as I continued to travel the out-there, primitive world as a documentary-maker and creator of various adventure television series for most of my life. After one full career as an international producer and writer, I returned to my first love (which would not leave me alone!) -- fiction writing. The first fruit is "TEETH - The Epic Novel With Bite," Volume 1 of the South Pacific Trilogy. It is set in the same general region and time period as the hit HBO/Spielberg/Hanks series, "The Pacific."

While this is a war story, featuring 20-year-old soldier and sniper Johnny Willman, of San Diego and Hawaii, it is also a love story. And it is a confrontation of modern man versus a primeval force of nature, the gargantuan crocodile known as "the Father," worshiped as a deity by the people of the Big River. It is also modern man versus the Stone Age, as our 3 protagonists face the formidable (and real) last bastion of tribal culture - a nation of headhunters and cannibals - on the vast island of New Guinea -- one of the places I grew up. Finally, it is an exploration of tribalism at both the local and global levels, as the Cowboy and Samurai nations squared off on the world stage. And this is mid-1945, as America is about to unleash a horrific new weapon of mass destruction against the enemy that stabbed it in the back at Pearl Harbor.

Samurai novelist Yasuyuki Kassai says TEETH "is a masterpiece. One of the greatest books I have ever read."
