Something About Me and My Book:
I am seeking ideas to help me market my self-published book, entitled Feral. The book started out as a way to exorcise some demons. As a result, it was self-published in a bit of a hurry, I was so grateful to get it done and out of my system. As a consequence, it was not as well edited as I would have wanted. A reader will see right away why it was so important to me to get certain things off of my chest.

The story begins in the early 1970s with a young man coming of age under a brutalizing family situation, and becoming a private military contractor (PMC) under a State Department contract and being sent to Africa to fight communist-led terrorists and insurgents. The story follows him back to the states and through his success in business, in part due to substantial hidden family wealth that he is charged with growing and investing as part of his Legacy. The story also finds the hero returning to Africa at critical junctures, as he develops a plan to truly liberate parts of the continent.

The story is of course based on my early years, and on a business career that spans four decades of work in energy, investment banking, technology, and the PMC business. Much of my early career took place in Africa, and I have made a life-long study of its history and political issues. Feral reaches back to my first involvement in Africa, and among other things describes how there might be a way forward for the people of this beautiful continent that will enable them to finally escape their colonial past.

I think that a reader will see the truth portrayed in my story, and will gain a greater understanding through Feral of some important things happening in the world. Also, if a reader has an eye for technical/tactical details, he or she will immediately see that I know exactly what I am talking about.

Since putting Feral out there, I have started work on a couple of short stories (such as Purgatory), and on the follow-on novel to Feral, which will be named FreePort. I intend that there be a total of three books in the series, which I am calling the Legacy Trilogy. In addition, an independent film producer has requested that I provide a screenplay version of Feral, on which I am now working.
