Something About Me and My Book:
FAST FACTS ABOUT THE BOOK
“The Gene Makeover: the 21st Century Anti-aging Breakthrough”
by Dr. Vincent Giampapa, MD

About “The Gene Makeover”
The Gene Makeover is designed to empower individuals with information on how to age more optimally, and
take control of their own health and longevity based on their own unique genetic makeup. Dr. Giampapa says:
“It is not what the average person needs that is important, but what we need as individuals that can make all
the difference in how we age and the quality of our health.”
Written in easy-to-read terms, “The Gene Makeover” explains Dr. Giampapa’s ground-breaking research on DNA and reveals:

- The secret of aging is contained in an individual’s genetic makeup
- Our genes can be made to work for us, not against us
- DNA – deoxyribonucleic acid – carries the genetic instructions that make each person unique. Aging
occurs in DNA as cells replicate themselves in a process similar to photocopying.
- Environmental, lifestyle and hereditary factors affect cells, causing them to produce less accurate
copies, resulting in degenerative diseases and aging.
- By optimizing the health of each individual cell, one can optimize the health of the entire body.
- While calorie restriction is the only proven method to slow aging, The Gene Makeover explains that
nutrient density, rather than deprivation, is the key to reducing oxidative stress caused by digestion.
- There are five key biological processes that are essential to healthy aging: blood sugar control,
inflammation, protection from oxidative stress, control of gene expression related to cardiovascular
health, and normal cellular repair.
- Proper diet and lifestyle, supplemented by a personalized nutritional support regimen that is tailored to
a person’s genetic makeup, can support these key biological processes.
- Dr. Giampapa’s unique Personal Genetic Health Program mimics the benefits of calorie restriction (the
only scientifically proven method to slow aging) without having to dramatically reduce calories. The
program can mitigate the effects of aging through:
1. Knowledge of an individual’s genetic inheritance via non-invasive, genetic testing
2. Evaluation of environmental and lifestyle stress factors
3. A regimen of science-based nutritional support that takes this knowledge into account.
- The Personal Genetic Health Program includes recommendations for anti-aging that focus on
nutraceutical supplement use, lifestyle and exercise.
- Resources in the book include anti-aging clinics, physicians and products; home test kits and
companies that provide DNA testing services.
