Whaddya know? Meet my family...

So, I am the only child in my family–can’t say whether this is good or bad, but that’s just the way it is.

My dad’s name is Richard, and like I said before, he is a physician. He’s really tall (like, above six feet), dark and handsome. When people meet him these days, they keep saying he looks like Barack Obama!!! Lol!!! I guess they’re kinda right, after all, my dad, like our dear Mr. President, is a half-breed too. His dad (my grandfather) is from somewhere in Anambra State,… Continue

Stuffs you wanna know...

About Me...

Umm…yeah, I’m sure it’s no secret anymore that I was born in San Francisco, in August of 1995. That should make me like what…? Yep, 13 years old as of 2008 when I featured in the novel, FEDDIE GIRL.

Being from California and all, you all would think that I’m all flashy, bitchy, snooty and bratty, right? Well, you’re right… Okay, no, I used to be like a total bitch before I went to school in Nigeria. I had like a ‘don’t mess with me’ attitude which got… Continue

Hi, welcome to my world!

(From the Feddie Girl Blogs. Copyright, April 2009 http://bernardbooks.com)

My name is Carlotta Ikedi, better known as Feddie Girl. I am the major character in the FEDDIE GIRL novel by Nona David.

I was born and bred in San Francisco, California, USA, where I spent the first twelve years of my life. Right after my twelfth birthday, my parents thought it would be a good idea to relocate to Owasso, Oklohoma. Dumb, right? I thought so… Continue

Persistance

I've just finished what I hope is the final edit go-through on Marta's Place. Editor Sandy Light has studied it so many times I'm sure she could relate the entire book verbatim. She's a toughie, but I like that.

Lyrical Press has scheduled Marta's Place for release on April 20.

2008 and (so far) 2009 have been my most productive and rewarding years. I had The Crack in the Teacup, from a defunct press, re-released by Cambridge Books as Music and it became the first in a series of… Continue

Opportunities abound

I read a LOT of writing industry articles, newsletters, e-zines and the like. Right now, they are all saying the same thing...it's all about the blog. Internet marketing is all the rage. It's viral, and if we (authors) don't jump in on it, then we'll miss the boat.

It's tough to say whether or not the boat has already left the dock. There are millions upon millions of blogs out there. One would think our singular voice can't be heard among the cacophony (sp?) of others out there all… Continue

From shy, to finding my own voice, to writing a book

Check out this story...about my journey...

"I received this email from author, Pam Kumpe yesterday and I thought my blog readers would like, yet, another perspective on writing. Pam shares with us some of the insecurities she experienced at the thought of putting herself out there through her writing. And then she fills us in about her successes. I think that her story is inspiring and interesting. So I invited Pam to be my guest blogger this morning. Here’s Pam…
