Looking for a fresh way to pitch your book in September? Sept 8-14 is National Invisible Chronic Illness Awareness Week!

I encourage you to look at your books and see if there may be a slant you could add to it that relates to chronic illness.

If you are booking radio or TV programs right now, you may want to consider using the "chronic illness slant" on your pitch and letting the producers know the date is Sept 8-14, 2008.

As an author, I know I am always on the look out for ways I can market my book with a fresh slant and make a program pitch relevant to a particular date or event.
As the founder of Invisible Illness Week, it helps our awareness efforts if radio hosts happen to mention it on the air!

There are loads of materials, facts/statistics, articles on our web site at www.invisibleillness.com . We also have a blog with a daily feed.

People have asked me what they can do... Here are some SPECIFIC ways to get involved in increasing the awareness:

-- Blog about invisible illness topics. Here are some suggestions of topics and instructions on how to download a badge for your web site that says you are blogging for Invisible Illness Week.

-- Post our press releases on your blog. These tend to get into Google News and Google Alerts and increase the exposure immensely. (All press releases will come through our blog http://invisibleillness.wordpress.com

-- Let your readers know about our Invisible Illness Survival Kit 2008. If they sign up for our updates from the blog at http://invisibleillness.wordpress.com they can download it for free. You can include an actual link which is http://www.feedburner.com/fb/a/emailverifySubmit?feedId=2283096&loc=en_US

-- Send us your own articles/blog postings about invisible illness. We are featuring guest bloggers daily from August 8 - Sept 14th.

-- "Become friends" with any social networks we have that you may participate in. See www.invisibleillness.com and choose from the drop down box "Social Networks" in the top right corner of the page.

-- Would you like a link back to your web site? For jut $10 you can become one of our "Top Spots" (see any pages at our site, for example, www.invisibleillness.com/articles.htm )

-- Include a banner from our web site ( www.mychronicillness.com/invisibleillness/banners.htm ) or our video

-- If you have relationships with any health organizations, media, or professionals who may be interested (counselors, doctors, pastors, etc.) let them know our week exists!

-- Do you do radio interviews? A blog carnival? Do you have a book you are trying to sell? Be sure to let everyone know the date of NICIAW and that it would a good time for a special feature.

-- Put our II Week blog feed or widget on your own blog. We will have at least two posts each day (1: a guest blogger), so it's a great way to let your readers stay in touch with all the happenings.
