On the island of Kauai in Hawaii, Old Hanapepe Town is a colony of artists of all kinds. Shop, galleries, and cafes fill every space along the one very long block. Friday is known as Friday Night Artwalk and all the businesses remain open from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m.

September is our peak hurricane season. When we have no hurricanes threatening, we have rain. Do we ever! It's been raining hard off and on for days. I wasn't sure if the turn out would be great.

The store that sells my books and allows me to have a signing anytime I want is Talk Story Bookstore. They are a used book store but carry any local author's and artist's products.

I arrived and sat up my table - already partially set up by the owners. It wasn't raining! That meant the music out on the veranda would attract a lot of people to our end of the block. And attract it did. Tourists and locals alike sat outside and enjoyed the music. This is a place where if you feel you want to pick up some noise makers and keep time with the one-man band, you don't have to ask. People were dancing in the narrow parking area.

While this was great to be a part of, people were so happy it wasn't raining, not many came inside to purchase books or meet the author. No problem. I'm there so often some evenings have low sales and some have extremely high sales. Yesterday was low sales. I sold only five copies of River Bones, my thriller. However, the store had sold another eleven copies since I was last there three weeks ago.

Not bad, not bad at all. I left another dozen books, and historically true, when I go back after returning from my book tour on the mainland at the end of October, I will have another signing there and take along another dozen or so books because the ones I just left with them will be gone.

I am blessed.

LATE NOTE: I've just had my timeshare approved for Honolulu Nov.1st to the 8th. That's only enough time to catch my breath from the California trip. But that's okay. We cannot find a lot of things we needs on this island and often go to Honolulu. But now, with am exchange I thought would never get approved at this late date, I can hit the book stores in Honolulu and outlying areas as well.

Wow... !
