Would You Like To Share Your Thoughts?

I'm working on writing the first book in a promotional series I've been planning for some time. One of the things I want to do, is include thoughts, suggestions and experiences from authors :) I bet you have some awesome promo ideas and would like to know if you would like to provide a quote. I think that offers more varied info for the authors who read the book and also gives me a chance to give exposure to some friends :)

In return for a quote, I will include your name, website address, names of a couple of books. If there is anything else you'd like to list, I'm willing to consider it :) It should be good exposure for you -- that's my goal anyway. This is the first book in the series and it will include a lot of promotional basics.

I'm creating a insert on the pages and they are labeled -

Promotional Professions Share Their Tips.

I'm not asking for your deep dark secrets, but wouldn't turn them down :) The idea is to pick one promotional avenue that is unique to you or that you found very successful and to give me a paragraph or two about the idea, how it works and why you recommend it.

The topics I still need include:

Developing a Marketing Mind

Elements of Your Book – would like to hear from another publisher

Do You Need a Publicist

Build and Use a Press Kit

Write and Distribute Press Releases

Increase Your Credibility as An Author – Write and Distribute Free Articles

Building a Brand for You and Your Books

Working With Bookstores
The book could be a good way to expose you and your work to a different audience. If you're interested, feel free to ask questions :)

I've been successful with press releases, not the typical "Author Writes Book" but using a piece from the book, an idea, and expanding. Example: my romantic comedy's main character is a Jimmy Buffett fan. His fans are called Parrot Heads. So I crafted a release "What's Your PH Factor?" And discussed a little Jimmy, my book, and some trivia questions.

Let me know if you need more.

I have a chapter that deals with that specifically. If you would like to put together a paragraph or two about how you do it and how it helps, I'd be happy to include you in the book along with a signature block with your name, book title and website addy.
