The Book Marketing Network

For book/ebook authors, publishers, & self-publishers

We all wait in line at some point... grocery store, doctor's offices, banks... you name it. Then there are the people who REALLY stand in line. Lining up days before for iPhones, video game systems, Day-After-Christmas sales.

But I have to say I'm impressed and actually a bit relieved (even thought I'd never do it) to see people, and especially children, standing in line and waiting anxiously for... a book.

I love books, I always have. I suppose that's the reason for me to do what I do -- create books, capture someone's history or story in bound paper. I'll admit, there's been many times I've thought to myself, "I really need to learn how to be creative in the digital realm, webpages and web animations -- THAT'S where the future is going." And I'm not completely still in the stone-age. I have built a couple websites, nothing overtly fancy, mind you... but nonetheless.

So are these books that children and adults alike stand in line for really fabulous, life-changing writing? Or is it simply marketing at it's pinnacle of perfection? One could argue either side, but one fact remains -- children are still reading books. They are still able to experience that wonderful sensation of opening that front cover and hearing that ever-so-delicate crackle of a new binding being used; inhaling that sweet, faint aroma of fresh press ink on unmarred, uncreased pages.

And it's times like this I realize that I AM in the right line of work. Nothing with batteries, touchscreens, button controllers or power cords will ever take the place of the feel of a book in your hands. I have faith in that.
