Art Tirrell: Garth Stein's The Art of Racing in the Rain is fabulous

Garth Stein's latest effort, working-titled The Art of Racing in the Rain, and recently auctioned for a reported 1.2 million to Harper, is a lock to become next summer's sensation. Since we met online in 1998 as members of a well-known novel critique list, Garth has become a mentor, valued friend, and tireless guide to the ins and outs of the writing craft. Over time, I've had opportunities to read and comment on drafts of his works, and he's been gracious enough to support my personal efforts in many ways, not the least of which is the blurb he gave me for The Secret Ever Keeps. Let me tell you, nobody deserves success more than Garth Stein. Racing in the Rain is truly a unique concept and he really pulled it off. This one is special. Watch for it.
