While in Alaska for the Alaska Writers Group Conference, I discovered that there were over 100,000 glaciers in Alaska but only 700 of them had names. I asked the ranger on the boat if the one I'm pointing to below was named. He said that he didn't think so. So I named it. The Kremer Glacier.
After naming it, I asked him to let everyone on the boat know. He did. So now it is officially the Kremer Glacier. If you'd like a glacier named after you, let me know. I'm thinking of setting up an official registrar for naming Alaska glaciers.
You might also have noted that my hair is now shorter and my beard is gone from my official Ning photo on this network. Alas.
Note: The glacier I'm pointing to is called a hanging glacier. It doesn't come all the way to the valley or ocean, but hangs on the side of a mountain. I feel that way sometime myself.
