Feeding The Pipeline

My sister, who is a realtor, often makes the comment: "I need to feed the pipeline." This is how she looks at her business - she puts something in - then something comes out. She "feeds" this pipeline with her marketing, and what comes from that is her business and income. "If you don't put it in, it's not going to come out," she reminds me.

Well, for the past two months I have not fed my pipeline - and it's showing! I'm not being hard on myself though, the reason for it is that I just spent that time with my Dad. He was diagnosed with brain cancer and given 2-4 weeks to live at the end of July. We took him back to his home and my sister and I took care of him and Mom until the end.

Since my sister and I are our own bosses, we were able to give ourselves time off to do this. And while my sales may be suffering a loss, I would have been much more upset if I had lost that time with my Dad due to a work commitment. I think the benefit of being able to do things such as this far outweighs the risk of losing money during that time. I love it that I am in control of my own time, and money. I feed the pipeline with what I want in order to get what I want out of it. During the past two months I put in love and time - and I got love and memories by the buckets full in return.

My Dad was one of my biggest fans - and one of the hardest working people I've ever known. I know he'd be the first to push me back into work and get me to move some books! I knew the best place to gather some goods to help me "feed the pipeline" was to come back here where all my friends are that can provide the right information - so I'll be checking out all your websites soon! I'm ready to start gathering everything you have to offer and stick it in that pipeline and see what happens! First stop, re-reading John Kremer's book, next, re-reading Carolyn Howard-Johnson's book, then it's searching this site for the best people to help me use those ideas. I have no doubt that with this plan, they'll be a flood of activity at the end of that line! I can hear Dad now, "Way to go Babe!"
