You're a Writer? So?

I was talking to the guys and gals in my writing group about different people’s reactions when they find out you’re an author, or even a writer for that matter. If you conducted a poll, I would say about 95% would smile, then go on to other things. No "Omg, you're an author? Can I have your autograph?" No, it just isn't that way anymore - not to writers and authors who don't have the caliber of more well-known writers/authors. It's not that we expect much, but sometimes we are a little saddened by the fact that we aren't treated as celebrities, but that's when the writer/author comes back to earth, works on gaining that fan base and...well...I have written an opinion on the matter at www.bookmarketingbuzz.wordpress.com if you'd like to read more.
