Can you be happy and miserable at the same time?

Isn't that a great question? What if your health causes you tremendous pain and hardship? What if you lose all or some of your physical possessions as a result of economic downturn or other circumstances beyond your control? What if you've been abused or betrayed? You get the idea. Those are certainly miserable circumstances that are unfortunately common to us all.
At the end of each chapter in our emotional recovery workbook for Christians, we have a closing prayer that goes something like this:
"Father, thanks for being with me during this study. It's a hard thing to talk about, but even if what is bothering me never completely goes away, having this special relationship with You makes it worthwhile and bearable. Thanks for helping me to accept the life that I have and for being with me always."
Well, there you have it! Life can be utterly miserable but our relationship with God can make it bearable and even make us happy in ways that amaze us.
Please visit our site to see a sample chapter from the workbook and for more encouraging words that can lift you up no matter what you are going through right now. Here's the link:
May the God of all comfort and encouragement minister to you no matter what you are going through, and may you be His instrument of encouragment and blessing to others during their life's hard times.
In His amazing love and support,
Pastors George and Sharon Billington
