Congratulations on the book signings. Yes, prayer is the key to it.

I just heard back from B&N by e-mail, they gave me a date of 3/1/08 for their Celebrate Authors day event from 1 to 3. I called and ask to be signed up for it. I have been going back and forth with the manager for months. I guess that is what it takes. I also stopped by the library today and got a schedule for all of the events in the various libraries most are for Black History Month. I figure even if I don't get a book signing I can still attend some of the events and meet other authors and readers.

thank you for the advise. i think B&N is going to be tough. i just found out the other day is that my book is available there not only as a POD but a prepay also. (a bit of a surprise since my inde publisher originally just told me that it was available there, not the form it was available in.) anyways i'm headed to the phone.

I think it was a 'match made in heaven'because I have been trying to get book signings with no success so far and it just so happens that a lady that I met through my church, has a busness called Teen Upward Bound. She bought a bunch of books for their library and since they had a special function for the parents and children for Black History Month, she thought it would be a great idea that I have a signing there. It worked out fine. She raffled off the first 6 or more books, I signed them and gave out biz cards, pens with my info on them and flyers. The next signing will be through them also it will take place at St. Thomas University in Miami Gardens, Fla. For some people it seems so easy, they get book signings after book signings and they get their books in the library. I am still waiting (since Dec.) for Barnes and Noble to get back to me with a date. I suggest to you and plan to do so myself - check the library, and local papers for functions, hit every book store in the neighborhood and most of all pray. I wish you much success - and the jitters will soon go away once you see how appreciative most people are to have you sign your work for them.
