Compulsion by Jennifer Chase is an incredible suspense thriller with a dash of romance thrown in.

Detective Sergeant Rick Rivas has a growing pile of messages and police files dealing with the sudden epidemic number of missing children in the Arizona state over the past year. Rick is determined to catch the perpetrator before another child goes missing. Rick gets an unknown email telling him who is taking the children and where the perp can be found. While the police are taking him into custody, Emily is watching the capture happy that one more killer is off the streets. Emily has dedicated her life to tracking down child murders one at a time. She uses stat-of-the-art equipment with the help of a friend who is a police officer, Mike. Emily continues her undercover work and her reward is to prevent further murders. Unknown to both Emily and Rick, there is a killer in the midst who will stop at nothing to get what he wants. Emily becomes entangled with Rick's case when she returns home to find a very strange and dangerous man living next door. All the neighbors are scared of him, but when he attacks Emily, the two cases become entwined as Rick and Emily race to unmask the murder. Will Emily and Rick unlock the mystery in time or will tragedy strike again?

Ms. Chase has created a thriller that kept me on the edge of my seat. I kept changing my mind about who or what the killer was until the answer unfolded within the story. Emily reminds me of a knight in armor who wants to right all the wrongs and is willing to endanger her self to save others. Rick is a man who has almost given up his life to the force until he meets Emily and learns that service can have its own rewards. The insane behaviors and actions of the killers were brought to life for the reader; they scared me to death. I have worked with people like that and I know how crazy they can truly be.

This is one book that fulfills the title suspense thriller.
