Debbie is a ferret, who is adopted by Andrew from the pet shop. Arriving at his 15^th floor apartment, she soon discovers that Andrew has provided her with a lovely cage, plenty of attention and a friend to play with in the form of a cat called Charles.

Through Debbie, in this captivating story we learn a lot about ferrets and gain wonderful insights into this not very well known pet. Anyone who owns and loves animals knows they are very intelligent and do communicate, both with each other and interspecies, this enchanting, cleverly written book illustrates this wonderfully.  As I read it, I found myself reading out parts to my husband, laughing at the antics of these very intelligent animals. Given the freedom of the apartment whilst Andrew is at work, Debbie is soon learning new and interesting things from Charlie, including the rules of being an animal in a human’s world.

Whether you are a ferret fan or not, old or young, this book is a very enjoyable read, amusing and brilliantly written with lovely illustrations by Nancy Matson.
