Believes has always being a part of faith in something or someone while faith is having absolute confidence in something or someone. Before religion, there was faith and that faith was the confidence God had in his word to achieve his desires. “And God said, let there be light and there was light” [Genesis 1:  ] And when man was created, he believed in God his creator because he trusted God to meet his needs like children trust their parents to meet their needs.

Faith in its real sense transcends all religion and in its pure form has no need for religion. But in our present word, faith has been fully imbedded in religion that only a few could see the difference between the two and could effectively separate them as needed. Religion coined faith as part of religious beliefs and adopted it as everything but what it is meant to be. Trust in God had suddenly become confidence in religion, in Pastors, religious orders and so on. The purity of confidence that faith stood for has systematically been windswept since the formation of the church before it became churches. Faith then became the belief in churches and church leaders. Apostolic faith was the watered down following of Jesus’ teaching that was hijacked by the Roman Emperor to subjugate Christians and eventually Christianity. Before this time, Jesus and his followers were faith-filled believers in God. Their teachings were the unwavering trust in the power of God for all things. With time though religion has conquered faith and relegated it to the back seats of the church in favor of doctrine, leaving God the architect of faith to wonder what went wrong with man.

To correct the ills of this current age, we must go back to the basics of belief and re-root the tree of faith. All sects without exception must readopt the apostolic creed of “believe in God, the Father Almighty, the maker of heaven and earth…”without rebranding it to suit their purpose. This will re-energize all branches to reconnect to the vine and melt down all divisive barriers and embargos place on religion by groups of people with undisclosed agendas. Faith would have no limits if we subscribe to the idea of spiritual freedom preached in the day of the early church and by the apostles who physically walked with Jesus Christ.
