I had the opportunity to interview Heath Lowrance on The G-ZONE, my blogtalk radio show Weds, November 2. It was a blast listening to him describe his zombies and the details of what is to come for this new series. B.R. Stateham was also on and he was discussing his latest “A Hamm and a Bean Too Many”, a comedy about two mismatched detectives. Yes ,B.R. does comedy also. The link for the show will be below, listen in to get a feel for these two amazing authors.

Back on point here: “Deadland,USA” is a hum dinger of a zombie tale. The perspective is unique as we are getting the info from one of the survivors of the invasion and world collapse due to the zombie infestation. The group we get to follow calls them “Meaties”; they have some very different zombie qualities: not just an acute sense of smell and hearing, but they also swarm when there is something to be found.

Personally I love it, don’t shuffle your feet to the e-reader, swarm to it, the read is to die for, hahahaha.

Here is some more on it:

It's all over now. The world as we knew it is gone forever and there will be no future generations to read this. One ugly day in March the undead came and none of us were ready. How could we be? Within months, the entire planet was one writhing, bloody infestation, and all the governments, all the churches, all the great men of power and insight and wisdom, became as meaningless as the tinny tune of a broken music box.

So why do I bother to keep this journal? Good question. If there is no hope for tomorrow, why chronicle these events as I see them? Well, I'll tell you why.

It's the only thing that keeps me from going completely ape-shit insane.

So to you, welcome. To my Fictional Future Generation, my scores of happy safe delusions, welcome. Welcome to Deadland, USA.

Heath Lowrance is the author of the cult novel THE BASTARD HAND, as well as a short story collection called DIG TEN GRAVES. Currently, he's penning the horror-western series about the mysterious Hawthorne for Trestle Press (starting with "That Damned Coyote Hill"). His other stories have appeared (or will appear) at Crime Factory, Shotgun Honey, Pulp Metal, The Nautilus Engine, and others. He has been a movie theater manager, an office drone, a singer in a punk band, and a regular donor of blood for money. In forty-five years, he's engaged in a hundred years’ worth of anti-social behavior. Now he lives in a quiet neighborhood near Detroit, where he is continually trying to drag others down to his level.
