The Book Marketing Network

For book/ebook authors, publishers, & self-publishers

How should you use this Book Marketing Network? A newbie asks a question. I answer it.

Question: I am a newbie at this to say the least. I got a lucky, fast break into publishing. I want more but can you tell me the advanced method of using your site to promote? How much time do i spend, who do i befriend, who is the most influential member that can get you to retail?

John's Answer: You don't use this site to promote to people. You use it to create relationships with other authors and publishers -- and then use those relationships to create relationships with media, Internet resources, etc. Many people will be happy to tell you what's working for them.

Write blog posts whenever you have a question.

And join in some of the forum discussions.

Add friends to your network.

Spend about 10 or 15 minutes per day on this network at most. Keep it short. Connect. Get answers. Move on.

That's my short answer.

But check out the new forum I created on What's Working for You? I hope all members of the network will begin sharing the things that are working for them in marketing their books.

Hi John;

I do not have a book yet - I mean I have a completed ms and one that's almost there (I'm doing a final edit right now) so I can't share with members what works for me in marketing my book. I can though tell members what works for me in persevering and not throwing in the towel: it's a kind word. It is when someone who has read my manuscript, another writer perhaps but not necessarily, tells me that they found my book interesting and well written. That works for me.
