Is their love really enough? Despite a rocky beginning, Faith and Matt find that they are obviously meant for each other. Not only do their strawberry farms connect, but they share the same strong faith. Both have suffered failed romances in the past, but now their future looks bright. Unfortunately, Faith’s psychotic ex-boyfriend Fred doesn’t see it that way. He will stop at nothing to get Faith back, whether she likes it or not. Terrorized by vandalism, arson, and even attempted murder, Faith and Matt manage to move forward, despite ever increasing odds against them.

Sometimes I found the couple’s reaction to adversity almost ‘Pollyanna’ like. It was nice to see Christian people putting their beliefs into action, but I had to wonder at times at the saintly outlook. To counter this, the ‘bad guys’ are somewhat one dimensional. Fred is just plain evil and Lilly, a woman out to snare Matt for herself, is the typical shallow diva. However, these types of stock characters can be quite entertaining, so I enjoyed this aspect of the book. There is a lot of action and the main characters find themselves in much hot water, however, for the most part, Barbara Robinson’s Last Resort reads like the sweet Christian romance it is.
