Life's Storms

by Jacqueline Alvarez on Friday, August 26, 2011 at 4:53pm

My heart grows weary with the threat of Hurricane Irene heading towards the East coast; I feel so sad because family is everything to me and here I am in Texas unable to reach them.  Just knowing what they might encounter, forces me to go to my greatest comfort, the Bible. I am not perfect, never claimed to be; I will entrust my family's safety to our creator; or attribute the results to my family's application of critical thinking during the storm (for those of a more fact based belief system).  It is almost too much to bear; 30 yrs. ago I ran away for whatever reasons to which are not relevant to this matter at topic; now, I must stand on the sidelines...the whole city might get evacuated (from what I am observing in the news).  Faith as the size of a mustard seed is all that is required of me at this moment...yet, I wish there were more I can do!  We natives of the East coast are a breed of strong people, survivors and victors.  No matter what happens I know that my family will be tucked by God's bosom and covered by His Holy Mantle. "Peace be still". God
