Stupid People Doing Stupid Things: How to Understand Competition

Several people have recently left this network because they didn't like the fact that I have my book cover featured on this website.

As the founder of this network (and the administrator), I am allowed to feature somethings that others are not able to. That someone would see this as competing with them (since they had published a book on self-publishing) is both short-sighted and incredibly naive.

Personally, I support all my competitors and have done so for many, many years. Why? Because my book is the best on marketing books. So why would I fear any competition.

I also do book marketing consulting, yet on my BookMarket.com website, I feature lots and lots of book marketing and book publishing consultants -- all competitors: http://www.bookmarket.com/101bkmark.htm.

Someone who fears competition does not understand marketing one bit. Marketing is all about creating relationships, even with your so-called competitors.

Do not fear competition. Otherwise you have nowhere to go to market yourself or your book.

It is sad to see people leave this community because they don't understand the fundamentals of good marketing.

Alas.

My apologies if I seem a little harsh with these people, but I really would be doing the rest of you a disservice to ignore such short-sighted behavior.

As Jesus said, Love your enemies. And, quite honestly, your competitors are hardly your enemies. They could be your greatest ally and friend.
