Tax Resolution: You Are Required to Pay Your Taxes

Spoiler Alert: Throughout the years, chat lines, the Internet, and in-person workshops surface regarding the issue of paying taxes. They often advise people to not pay their taxes. Many encourage participants not to file under the premise that U.S. citizens are not required to pay any taxes.

That extreme disillusion surfaces from what occurred in 1894 when the Supreme Court initially ruled the income tax as unconstitutional. However, do not allow these groups to influence your decision on whether to pay your taxes, because they are greatly misinformed.

In 1913, the 16th Amendment was ratified giving Congress the authority to enact an income tax. Since that time, Congress has levied income taxes in accordance with the U.S. Constitution.
