"The Entrepreneurial Author: Achieving Success and Balance as a Writer in the 21st Century" by Jay Conrad Levinson and David L. Hancock was not what I expected, but I still found it to contain some valuable information regarding living in balance while pursuing a career, and ensuring you don't become a workaholic. The authors outline a life where money is not the most important thing and encourage the reader to seek things that promote happiness, such as fitness, achieving goals, friendships, family, and spiritual elements of life.

The book can be beneficial for any small business owner, not just writers. In fact, at times I felt it was more appropriate for small business owners than the author or writer than does not also run a business.

If you are looking for a book that contains advice on writing, this book won't be the book you are looking for. There is very little about "writing." The book is more about integrating business with life and maintaining balance between work and the other areas of your life.

Again, much of the advice contained in this short volume is applicable to many small businesses, not just writing. The advice is good, and I found myself pondering on a few of the ideas and thinking of ways to align my life with some of the suggestions presented in this quick read.

If you are looking for a motivating read regarding becoming a successful entrepreneur while maintaining a balanced life, which includes family, community, and the environment, this book is a quick good read. If you are looking for a book containing tips and suggestions for writing, this book isn't going to help you much.
