Please forgive the shameless plug, but, with Christmas about to loom large in everyone's thoughts, I'd like to drop in a quick plug for my award-winning children's book, Tilly's Tale, written under my Harry Porter pseudonym. Now, when I say childrens' book, I have to admit that it was written in such a style as to appeal to 'kids' from 8 -99, and it appears as many adults as children have bought it and enjoyed it. Tilly's Tale won the Preditors & Editors 'Best Children's book, 2009 Award, as well as the 'Best Artwork Award' in the same Readers Polls.

What's it about?

Tilly is a very special little dog. She was unwanted, unkempt and
barely recognizable as a dog when we first found her. Her story is a
canine tale of a triumph against the odds. From being a 'scruffy mutt'
in a rescue sanctuary she has become a star at agility and search and
rescue work and is 'pack leader' to our family of rescued dogs. I hope
her story will go some way towards raising awareness of the plight of
abandoned, abused and neglected dogs around the world and also the
wonderful work performed by those who staff the various rescue centers
and dog sanctuaries who care for them and help to find them loving
caring homes.

I know from experience what inspires youngsters and the sort of stories
that appeal to them. This book has all the right ingredients, including
delightful pictures.

Children will enjoy reading this book themselves. And younger children having it read to them. It is inspiring and speaks of the
emotions of those who rely on others for their essential needs,
protection and comfort. Children can relate to this -- for themselves
and their own pets. Teachers would enjoy reading this book to their
young pupils. I have no doubt that the children would be inspired to
write both about Tilly and their own pet, and to paint pictures too.
They could also be involved in drama using the book's theme. I almost
wish I was still teaching!

A delightful story for any age.
Well done Harry Porter and Mandy Hedrick

A Charming Story With An Inspiring Message,
This review is from: Tilly's Tale (Paperback)

I just had the privilege of reading the most heart-warming beautifully
written and illustrated book about a rescue dog called Tilly.

Tilly's Tale by Harry Porter is an inspiration. We see from Tilly's point of view what life is really like. Following the death of her much
loved owner Sam, Tilly finds her entire world has changed and not for
the better--not at first. But then Tilly finds love and caring in the
person of Harry Porter and his family.

This is a tale for everyone and especially for those of us, like me, who know just how much love dogs are capable of giving.
I think of it as a canine Oliver Twist because it has the drama, pathos cruelty and deep and abiding love that Dickens wrote about.

When you read this little gem you'll see what I mean. Harry Porter has managed to give voice to Tilly and by doing so he gives all dogs
everywhere a chance to ask of us one thing--to be treated with respect.
Surely that is only right.

Thank you, Tilly and Harry for the eloquent and moving account of one rescued dog's journey from lost to found and to the love and care
Tilly and all dogs deserve.
