Morrie Schwartz (1916 -1995), a renowned professor of Sociology who grew up in the Jewish tenements in New York City said:

“So many people walk around with a meaningless life. They seem half-asleep, even when they're busy doing things they think are important. This is because they're chasing the wrong things. The way you get meaning into your life is to devote yourself to loving others, devote yourself to your community around you, and devote yourself to creating something that gives you purpose and meaning.”

Do you have a dream you are living for? have you taken stock of your contributions to life? what impact have you made in your small corner? you may not have global dreams, for example John Wesley (1703-1791) founder of the Methodist Church said: "I look upon the world as my Parish" ... and the Lord made that a reality for him.

You may, like Dorcas in the Bible book of Acts, at the 9th chapter have little dreams putting your skills and dexterity to good use, and yet also achieve impact as people cried to miss the 'small' woman thereby eliciting heaven to send the Ministry of Peter the Apostle to raise her up.

Like the sayings of Charles Wesley (1708 - 1788), brother to John Wesley, which is also etched in his epitaph “God buries His workmen, but carries on His work".

You may say what history or legacy is left by you is not important, but I dare say that our being able to make the Kingdom of God is predicated on fulfilling Jesus Christ instruction to give something back to this world and that 'something' is Love exemplified in what Jesus Christ has accomplished for us at Calvary's stake.

While you pursue your career and other secular dreams which ultimately give you personal satisfaction, living a fulfilled life can be measured by the impact you have had on others around you. An act of kindness, reaching out to help meet needs in the life of someone in dire straits, visiting the sick and praying for them and very importantly sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ to the world around us could bring eternal gains to many lives.

For the bible says:

"Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you." James 1:27 (New Living Translation)

Start today to pursue your dreams with God's love at the centre.

Yes, in your small corner or world you can add value to life!
