My husband George and I are Christian Counselors who help the hurting recover emotionally through developing balanced, healthy relationships with God, others and self, and you seem to explore kids, life situations and the choices they make. Thanks for the invitation. I look forward to finding out more about how we can support each other.

Hi Tena, I am glad to meet you. I have written a children's book as well and it too is about issues that young children are faced with and learning that others deal with the same things. It is in poetry form and consists of about 12 stories. Do you only publish your own work or do you publish other authors work as well? Keep in touch, and thanks for the invite. Debi

I am delighted to meet you as well. I commend John Kremmer for starting this network. It is so much fun. You are precisely correct, the children's market is a hard nut to crack but I am up for the challenge. I participate in numerous reading programs and to see the look on a child's face, the glow, is worth every second of my time.

Hello Tena,

Your work in children's publishing looks fascinating--and challenging I'm sure from what I know about the margins and markets for children's books. I used to be the book review columnist for Christian Parenting Today for about the first three years of that publication (15 years ago). Sadly it is no longer in existence--like many magazines because of the difficulty.

I'm delighted to meet you here.

Yeah, well, it is more rewarding and fun to write children's books than writing 'bootie videos'. LOL!

Hello Tena,
Thanks for the invitation! Some segue from video channels to children's books. That's an impressive leap. Well, to me anyway. Sounds like it was comfortable for you. I like that thought of branching out into new areas!
Take care,
Ken

Karen, Ahhh yes, the 'ol, what do I do now question. Trust me, I know what you are feeling. Writing a children's book is not easy. But have no fear, go for it!!!! Following are two things you can start with: Purchase all of the Caldecott Medal winners. This will give a firm idea of well written children's book and you will have fun reading them to your granddaughter. Next purchase the paperback "How to Write a Children's Picture Book" by Eve Heidi Bine-Stock. I found this book very helpful. Once you have a better idea for your 'book formula' then write it out page per page. If you can draw, illustrate it. A children's book is almost always 32 pages, including the copyrite pages, etc. So that makes 28 pages for your story. Good Luck! Smiles, Tena

Hi, Tena:
I have been writing since 1983. Recently, my granddaughter Amy, asked me to write a book for her. I have never written a children's book, but I know how much this means to Amy. Perhaps you can give me a few pointers. Please check out my website at www.warofwits.net, especially my latest blog. Thanks. I look forward to hearing from you.
Cordially,
Karen Lynch
