The Book Marketing Network

For book/ebook authors, publishers, & self-publishers

Many of our deployed troops would spend their down-time reading, if they just had access to books. Some do have access to ereaders, iPods, Blackberries, PCs, and laptops. But they are starving for good books to read.

As my special Christmas project this year I've signed up for a wonderful program, Operation EBook Drop, started by a retired veteran, fellow author, Ed Patterson, who remembers those long hours when far from home. He is making it possible, along with support and assistance from Smashwords, Amazon, and a list of authors, to send free ebooks to troops who sign up for the downloads. I contacted Ed and he made it easy to join and to get started offering my books to deployed military personnel. I've received responses from grateful troops already and I only joined yesterday. What a wonderful feeling it gave me.

If you would like to learn more and possibly participate please visit http://blog.smashwords.com/2009/09/smashwords-supports-operation-eb...Ed's email address is included in the article and he will provide more info or sign you up.

Regardless of your feelings or political views about the conflicts and reasons that peacekeeping forces and troops are deployed, remember that they are men and women doing service to their country. They are away from home and limited as to their creature comforts we all take for granted. I thought it the least I could do to provide whatever comfort and relaxation a book download might bring. Hope you will consider finding out more regarding Operation EBook Drop.
