What a Child Needs, Not What a Kid Wants

Children will not remember you for the material things you provided but for the feeling that you cherished them. -Richard L. Evans

As I recall, I was about five or six years old when I told my parents I
belonged to God and not to them. I'm sure you can imagine the look
on their faces as they comprehended what I said. I believe it was
my mother who said, “Boy, I brought you in this world, and I'll
take you out!” She said it because I had done or said something

That is exactly the point, Tracy. When we divorce ourselves from the external false 'egoic' self, and simply allow divine knowing guide our steps, from within, regarding all matters, all is well. Thanks for your comment, and for reading my posts!

Great post - "What a Child Needs, Not What a Kid Wants". As a child I did not receive much corporal punishment (an anomaly for that era, I am sure) I do remember getting a 'spank' once at about age three, and I was deeply offended! :) As a parent, I did deliver more spankings than I ever received, however - with varying degrees of 'learning outcomes'. I think the real point is that however we choose to guide and discipline our children, we must let the heavenly Father be our guide.
