For book/ebook authors, publishers, & self-publishers

If you write a companion book and use paragraphs from the original book, which is yours, in that companion book, does it need to be treated as a quote or mentioned as from the original book? I would be using it as regular text in the body of the chapter as if it hadn't been written before if I don't need to treat it as a quote.

If you are using the same text word for word, then it should be treated as a quote. However, if you rework the text - even a little, then you can just put a disclaimer at the beginning of the book to the effect: some of this material was originally published in _________.
