Free Kindle downloads
Amazon are offering free downloads for limited time periods. Two of my books are currently free on amazon.com and amazon.co.uk. I don't know how this will pan out eventually, but The Power of Persuasion has been downloaded 3,686 times in less than three days:

Both ebooks are free on Smashwords. Amazon has a "tell us about a lower price" link under the Product Details of books listed on Amazon. If you copy the URL of the free book on Smashwords and, after clicking on "tell us about a lower price," paste into the reply box and send, Amazon will do the rest. That is not to say that they will always make a book free; I presume it depends on the number of reports they receive (from IP addresses across the country, not all from the same place!).
