51 Ways to Blog as a Novelist

We all know that blogging is one of the best ways to get attention in today's Internet world. A blog is a godsend to your website, bringing it traffic, fans, and more. But you have to post regularly.

Stuck for what to blog about? Here are some tips for novelists, but the same tips can apply to writers of nonfiction, memoirs, children's books, business books, and more.

  1. Review other novels, especially from other lesser-known novelists.
  2. Write a blog post using the voice of one of your main characters.
  3. Have that main character tell some side stories not included in the novel.
  4. Write about the setting - time and/or place. Use some of the research you did to ensure that your novel was accurate.
  5. Invite your readers to review your book. Feature their testimonials on your blog.
  6. Interview some of your readers: via Q&A text or via an Internet radio show or via a teleseminar.
  7. Podcast your book, one section at a time.
  8. Write about trends in your genre.
  9. Write about your favorite novelists, especially those that write in your genre. Include their photos and a sampling of their books.

Coming November 2011 - THE HUGUENOT SWORD

http://www.allonbooks.com/huguenot_sword.html

In the time of Louis XIII and Cardinal Richelieu, when being a Protestant could mean death, The Huguenot Sword roamed the streets of Paris by night, defending those faithful to the young heretical religion. The nobility scorned them as ruffians, to the oppressed Protestants they were saviors, but to the Cardinal's Guards they were a pestilence needing to be terminated.

I’d like to let you know that my first fantasy novel, Silverdream & Bloodfire, has been published.  You can order it by clicking on the link below.  If you’d like to have me sign the copy, let me know.  Also let me know if you'd be willing to write a review.  I hope you’ll enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it.  Take care!

Good Day Everyone,

I am VERY excited to announce that the special hardcover edition of Books 1-4 of The Noricin Chronicles is now available! This limited edition, with cover artwork designed by yours truly, will only be available until December 31st, so be sure to grab a copy while you can (link below)!

The list price of the book is $26.00 (so just over half the cost of all four books in paperback). In order to keep the list price reasonable, I was unable to make the book available through distribution channels (such as Amazon, local bookstores, etc.), so it is only available for order through LuLu.com. On the plus side, it is my understanding that LuLu has printing facilities in the UK, so it should be available to my overseas readers!

As you may already know, I am donating 100% of my author royalties for this limited edition to Book Aid International (http://www.bookaid.org), a literacy charity based in the United Kingdom. So even if you can't afford to participate, you can help spread the word about this worthy cause!

Thanks for your support and time!

Happy reading,

Mark Sheldon
