51 Ways to Blog as a Novelist
We all know that blogging is one of the best ways to get attention in today's Internet world. A blog is a godsend to your website, bringing it traffic, fans, and more. But you have to post regularly.
Stuck for what to blog about? Here are some tips for novelists, but the same tips can apply to writers of nonfiction, memoirs, children's books, business books, and more.
- Review other novels, especially from other lesser-known novelists.
- Write a blog post using the voice of one of your main characters.
- Have that main character tell some side stories not included in the novel.
- Write about the setting - time and/or place. Use some of the research you did to ensure that your novel was accurate.
- Invite your readers to review your book. Feature their testimonials on your blog.
- Interview some of your readers: via Q&A text or via an Internet radio show or via a teleseminar.
- Podcast your book, one section at a time.
- Write about trends in your genre.
- Write about your favorite novelists, especially those that write in your genre. Include their photos and a sampling of their books.

Well, it’s official. I’ve joined the National Novel Writing Month Contest. The deal is one novel in 30 days, with no previously written prose. Characters can be used but not anything written prior. So I decided I am going to write the follow up to the short story series Outcast as a standalone novel. 30 days to write an entire novel. Wow, I must be crazy but I’m craving the challenge.
With me luck and I’ll keep you posted.

I have paused on my street urban lit that I started a few weeks ago by the name of Four Seasons to start on another novel that I literally wrote in my head in five minutes. I know some of you probably have done that. So I am constantly adding to that and will submit something soon so I can get some feedback. have a great day everyone & keep writing

That is a kind invitation, Donna. Having looked at the web site link, I doubt my books would be of interest and, to be honest, we don't read fantasy. (I say 'we' because my husband reads books to me every day, due to may eye problems.)

It's been a while since I was here. Nice to see folk doing from 'nicely' to spectacular!
Where does the time go when you get old? I guess we just slow up as I seem to be 'at it' all the time.
I'm about to release Checkmate - the third book of my trilogy. Not only will it be shortly available in the USA but also in India. The book is et in the glorious English Lake District and I thought it would be good to have web sites with many photographs of the setting.
Why is is that trying to get photographs just where you want them is so incredibly difficult? Ah well, kindly Payton L Inkletter (of 'Phools Paradise on a Shoestring' - odd name for a blog but a great one for all that!) has come to my aid. It is a wonderful thing to find true friends on the Internet.
