The Shadow in the Garden (The Spirithaven Adventures) is the first book of The Spirithaven Adventures Series by Braden McElroy and Barb Lilland.  This fantasy novel shines a light in the darkness by helping children deal with the different stages of grief.  The story starts with a young girl named Luna who finds a gate in her grandfather’s garden called the “Hedge-fence.”  This secret entrance leads to the “other side.”  With the help of her stuffed puppy and her grandfather, she sets out on an adventure of a lifetime.  This is an amazing journey that will keep the attention of young children, young readers and parents alike.  

In this adventure, children learn to understand their feelings and the authors delicately give another perspective to their emotions, which intern helps them deal with the different stages of grief.  With descriptive imagery, and an adventurous spirit, come and be intrigued and inspired by this imaginative tale. 

Readers will find this novel charming and heart-warming; this delightful novel is recommended to young adults, young children and even adults as the main character Luna inspires the readers to deal with different emotions throughout each chapter.  This is an amazing tale that will captivate readers through descriptive imagery and dialogue.  Uplifting and amazingly unique, this story utilizes the use of many allegories and challenges the reader to let others in when sorrow beckons.

Respectfully dedicating his work to our forefathers, author Don Joiner, has given brief histories of the churches listed each by county, but also gives insight into the foundation of the Christian religion and Georgia’s participation in matters such as the signing of The Declaration of Independence. 

The book also includes a list of the denominations in Georgia before the Civil War ended in 1865.  With excerpts on the historical markers in the state of Georgia, the early Christian footprints in Georgia, the various religious denominations in Georgia and The Great Awakening, one will find this book filled with a plethora of early American history.  This is truly a remarkable read filled with extensive research into such matters of history.

Being a retired school superintendent, the author began as a history teacher.  Since then he has been a school principal, director of elementary school education, assistant superintendent and retired as an independent owner of a real estate appraisal firm.

His knowledge and love for history shine throughout the pages as he enlightens readers on the many sacrifices our fathers made in settling the colonies.  This book is a wonderful and interesting read that is dedicated to authenticity and accuracy. 

Developed by the author through the discovery of the fact that there was not a single publication devoted to, “. . . describing and portraying, the earliest still standing churches in Georgia.”  With a highly informative and historical viewpoint, the author gives readers a rich history of not only the state of Georgia, but also a wonderfully well-written, historically correct perspective that intertwines the rich history of Christianity, the Civil War and the foundation of Christianity.

Life is an Amazing Song by John Raikkonen is a triumphant life memoir of the author's journey as a young boy brought up in war-torn Finland during the Finnish-Russian War and his eventual experience being brought to America to find a better life. 

His story is unique, breathtaking, heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time.  The author utilizes descriptive imagery and scenes that give each account life, bringing the reader right into his world.  This is a must-read for those that enjoy true-life stories involving history, drama, while intertwining the workings of Almighty God.  Truly an epic adventure that you will not soon forget!

Although heartbreaking and disturbing at times, the author has added humor into his portrayal of himself as a young boy on many occasions as he gives an account of his rambunctious cousin, Rake, who leads him into finding good "smoke." This unforgettable story of him showing young John how to smoke a shoestring at the tender age of four; well, you will laugh right along with him. 

His journey is spent between years with his grandparents in Finland, then to Sweden, and then opportunity knocked.  He was offered a chance to go to America – and he took it with his family's blessings.  You will learn of his trip on the SS United States and experience first-hand what it was like to be an immigrant landing in New York.  What an amazing life this man has lived.  Eventually, the author became a successful businessman and his experience related that America really was, "the land of opportunity." 

This is book is a delightful read, one that will keep you interested.  The author keeps the reader's attention by his thoughtful penning of every scene in detail and you will know by the end of the book that every good gift that comes is from God.  Truly an enchanting and delightful journey that gives account of the tragedies and triumphs encountered through war and through a life well-lived.  One might think that this tale should be a movie in the making Lifes Amazing Song.  Any book ordered through the web site will be autographed.
