Profile Information

Something About Me and My Book:: Born and raised in Anniston, Alabama. Deshaun Safford, is a summa cum laude graduate of Walden University and an Engineering graduate of Clark Atlanta University.

Remarkably enough, he is also a dedicated and active member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity, Incorporated (Omicron Kappa- Spring ’02), the professional music fraternity, and Sigma Iota Epsilon (Zeta Rho- Fall ’09), a professional management honor society. He is also a volunteer for the Big Brothers Big Sisters Program in Atlanta. In his spare time he enjoys writing, running cross-country, swimming, and mentoring young men and women.

Growing up, Deshaun was always (and still is) heavily involved in music and dancing. As he says, “Music is such an excellent healer. With music, I find myself, and it allows me to express my feelings. There’s not one person, on this earth, in my opinion, that does not love music.” Now that music is “etched” into his heart forever, he has found another love for writing.

The title of my book is The Challenge is Yours: Facing Realities, Challenges, and Responsibilities as a Young Adult. This book's target audience is for middle to high school students as well as high school students who have decided that college is the next step. The knowledge shared in the book is from my own experiences and since there was no information available for me, during my most difficult trials, it is my own obligation to make it available for you because your success is very important to me.

Are you thinking about taking on a journey for the first time, but not quite sure of how you should start? Are you headed down a path that has you lost or confused as to which way you should go? Are you thinking about quitting the journey you are on now because the challenge may be too much to handle? Are you afraid of becoming a better, more peaceable person because of how others may view you?

If the answer to these questions is “Yes,” then you have the right material in your hands. I cannot express the level of passion that I have for you to be successful in your current and future endeavors.

The Challenge Is YOURS discusses the importance of being respectful, not just to family, but to everyone. You may never know who you will need advice from and that person or persons you were disrespectful towards may be the person or persons to come to your rescue when no one else will.

The Challenge Is YOURS talks about always forgiving those who have brought harm to you. Your job is to forgive them, let it go and keep on reaching for your goals. In The Challenge Is YOURS, I informs you of thirty essential strategies on envisioning your goals, staying focused, and preventing complacency once those goals have been achieved.
