Hey, John,
Yeah, promoting a self-pub'd or small press book is a real challenge. All these sites are loaded with authors trying to sell works to one another, or looking for a breakout path. But you gotta start somewhere.
I'm up here in Harnett County, Dunn, myself, almost moved to the Southport area a few years back when I retired. Might still get there someday.
Have you tried signing onto www.crimespace.ning.com? It's loaded with both fiction and non-fiction writers of mystery/crime, and a few readers, too.
