Here Comes The Sun : A Memoir by Karen L. Phillips
New Release Feb.2010
Suicide, depression, addiction - how you can get help and find peace is the beating heart of my memoir, Here ComesThe Sun.
As I try to escape from my pain and from the effects of child abuse through drugs and drinking, I find myself lost - feeling unworthy and alone. Depressed and suicidal, I try running away from the torture and from the memories of sexual abuse. While I try to run away from my pain, I find a seemingly endless amount of trouble to get into. My Journey takes you through Ecuador, Cuba, Mexico, and Canada on my search for love.
Through my prose, journals and poems, I speak my innermost private thoughts - my true feelings of child abuse and suicide become open. I am the voice for all the ones who cannot speak as I clearly express my deepest emotions. This is a memoir that is serious, yet it is entertaining and funny.
In this story, I reveal how I find my way out of the dark night and into the sun, showing you how to get help and find peace.
I have studied psychology in college and creative writing in university. My poetry has been presented and acknowledged by Queen Elizabeth II. I also am an award-winning songwriter. I have enjoyed travelling to many different countries. I live on Vancouver Island on the west coast of Canada.
