Critique of SING ME NO SAD SONGS (from Word Hustler)
_____ Outstanding __X___ Very Good ______Good _____ Fair _____ Poor
What a relatable, well-drawn tale. Your characters, emotions, and circumstances in these first 50 pages are well-written and very engaging. The main character of Alanna is a likable Everywoman who many readers will be able to relate to, especially regarding those familiar passages of time like going through a divorce and maintaining a successful career.
Your style is very clean and easy to read. The straightforwardness with which you weave these tales is an insight into the main character’s mind and heart. The pacing is also masterful, as you manage to travel back and forth in time with little disruption to the overall narrative, a feat that is not easy to do.
There is so much going on in the story, it definitely made me want to read more to find out what happens next to Alanna, Mark, Liz and Jared.
