My boss, Dr. Kerby T. Alvy, has a new book coming out in June/July timeframe called The Positive Parent. It's about raising happy and well-adjusted kids using 16 guidelines Dr. Alvy has created. I am acting as Dr. Alvy's publicist on this and, quite frankly, I don't have a clue. I've purchased John's book and Rick Frishman's book on Publicity as well as his ROLODEX. Both of these have been a tremendous help. I am in the process of putting together a Web site and other promotional materials. Any help, suggestions, ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Really liked your background and banner image. It reminded me of my childhood :)

Hi, Don. See jleland's terrific video on the Three Dimensions of Internet Marketing on this site: http://bookmarket.ning.com/video/video/show?id=523145:Video:4377
The three dimensions are:
1) Search Engine Marketing (aka. Search Engine Optimization)
2) Pay Per Click Advertising
3) Viral Marketing
I've had success with Pay Per Click advertising on ClickRiver, Amazon's PPC advertising service.
Hi Don, welcome. THe website looked good, I took a quick look at it. I tried at one time to do publicity work before I started writing but the phone calls broke me and I decided it was not for me. It's hard enough trying to do my own publicity with my books. I think for most authors it has to be hard to try and make yourself look good, its like your bragging or something and I don't do that well. If I ever start to make any money, I would probably try and get one to get me out there....anyway, good to have you here... Shirley
Hey Judi. Good to hear from you. Yeah, looks like we're tilted slightly to the left...or the right... depending on one's political leaning and perspective. LOL. Your advice is well taken and appreciated. I did put together stand-alone Web site for Dr. Alvy at http://dralvy.com. This was designed to promote him rather than the book. I haven't added the book to that just yet but will shortly. Keep in touch.
Welcome to the network Don! The first appeal to me was that your pose was similar to mine and we both have black and white photos so we must have a lot in common! (smile) Your endeavor sounds exciting and you can do it! Just living in the 21st century alone is a constant learning process... but the first thing you want to do is 'brand' Dr. Alvy and build an author website and start thinking about pre-pub promotion -- piece of cake!
