Something About Me and My Book:
I am cultural optometrist, helping Chinese and Westerners learn to see as the other side does. I do this by dispensing (through books, workshops, speeches and consulting) Chinese glasses to Westerners and Western glasses to Chinese.

My current book, "Wearing Chinese Glasses: How (not) to Go Broke in Chinese Asia," is based upon lessons learned during my 23 years of living-working with Chinese (14 years living in Chinese Asia, and 15 years married to a Chinese woman). Since1991 I have worked for my own small firm, Treasure Mountain Consultants. In my time I have negotiated contracts, led Chinese teams, hired, fired and managed Chinese staff and worked for numerous Chinese clients.

Since 1996 I have been a China "expert" for the Swiss government, each year leading workshops and offering 1x1 consulting in Europe and in Asia (in the latter case for Chinese staff, agents and partners as well as for Swiss nationals).

Hi Greg,
Nice to "meet" you.

I went to China some years ago and look forward to returning someday.

You are doing very important work! Do you speak Mandarin, too?

I would like to see this sort of work being done with other cultures too. It is so important for this small world we live in, to have greater understanding, so we can work together and enjoy the offerings, rather than allowing governments to create wars and unrest.

I am a freelance writer/editor and book-writing coach. Let me know if I can be of assistance.

Regards,
Faye

Hi Terry,

Working on a holiday, where do I know that tune from? Sigh. I even check and send email on Christmas morning (not Christmas in China). As I tell friends, I don't have a job, I just have work to do. But my lifestyle has advantages too: I've been part of my daughter growing up, not just a part-time dad, and I never have to golf on weekends. The former is more important than the latter, but the latter is pretty dang good too!

You mean there is way to improve my #460,883 Amazon sales ranking? Ha Ha I look forward to reading John's book. What I can't understand about Amazon is how can seven people be offering new copies of my book for $9.95 and up. The whole pricing and availability on Amazon looks to be low-ball marketing or some type of bait-and-switch.

But what do I know. I sold my Amazon stock long before it became a household name. Sigh.

Cheers,
Greg

ps. thanks for the kind comments on my book.

Hello Greg,

Your book sounds perfect for people who want to work in China. I hope you are doing well with it and working hard to get the word out--using Amazon and other tools. John Kremer has a great chapter in his 1001 Ways to Market Your Book on all the Amazon tools. Keep up the good work.

BTW, I'm working here today--even if it is the Fourth of July.

Sounds like a great job. Hope to go to China someday soon. Perhaps when they publish the Chinese edition of 1001 Ways to Market Your Books.
