Suzanne Woods Fisher The Search

I have to admit, I am a big fan of good stories written with an Amish backdrop. I don’t know if this comes from having lived my entire life about 90 minutes away from Lancaster, PA and enjoying frequent trips there or my envy of a lifestyle that most of us will never get to experience. I am drawn in by the faith, dedication to family and community, natural beauty, and simplicity of the Amish people.

The words on the back cover of The Search describe this story better than I…

January 2011 - News from Author Pamela Swyers

January 2011

What a winter! We still have snow on the ground here, which may be the most number of days we have had snow consecutively resting on the ground in the history of the Atlanta, Georgia area. I'm over it. Ready for spring.

Meanwhile, being a hermit can give me time to get more done (ideally).

The second installment in the Tryta Chronicles series-Dylan's Muse -is set to be printed by the end of the month. Nailing down the book cover…

A Get-Real Book for Those Who Desire Lifetime Happiness

Review by Lauren S. Smith

Some of us seem to be in a constant state of despair - and it's no wonder - with the events of the nation and the world, happiness is a state of mind that seems to have disappeared forever. David Fox, M.D., learned how to live a great life the hard way and now he shares his experiences and medical expertise with others in his new book, Comfort, Healing and Joy: Secrets to Living a…

New Novel Releases for the Week of Jan.18th,2011

I am finally getting back in the swing of things and getting back to putting this part of the week together. I did enjoy my time off, but it is time to get serious. To touch on a few bases here, we are going to be doing things a bit differently here @ The Scoop. One of the notable things is that when we are fortunate to get an interview with an author, I would appreciate some help with the questions. Why not? You read some of the same novels and books I do; take a shot at asking…

Robert Crais The Sentry

Am I a sucker for a Joe Pike novel or what? Yes I am and like many of you I marked the release date on my calendar and waited patiently to get my hands on it. I buzzed through it and, well, let me just hold off on my thoughts for a little bit. Let’s get to what is inside the covers first:

“Dru Rayne and her uncle fled to L.A. after Hurricane Katrina; but now, five years later, they face a different danger. When Joe Pike witnesses Dru's uncle beaten by a protection gang, he offers his…

Today I'm wondering....

Is it just me, or is the sight of a five-year-old crying in distress as her eyebrows are being waxed for a junior beauty pageant downright offensive?  Does a five-year-old even have her allotted quota of eyebrow hair?  And the woman who birthed her (I'm loathe to use the word 'mother') defends this hideous action by saying, 'They called BEAUTY pagents'.  For God's sake, woman, if you must have an accessory with frosted highlights, false eyelashes, and a spray tan; buy a freaking Barbie…

Smashwords Ebook Sales

I spent this last weekend downloading four of my books to Smashwords.com to be approved and put for sale on the website. It will take a week to find out if the downloads meet the hosts approval. Though they can turn the books into many different formats for different type of ebook readers, the format they wanted for the download was Microsoft document. Took me awhile to figure that one out because I don't have Microsoft. There are many other format guidelines to follow. I had to unpublish and… Continue

Jumpstart Monday // write with CONVICTION

I was only a girl when John F. Kennedy, Bobby Kennedy, Malcolm X, and Martin Luther King, Jr. were slain, but I can clearly remember the shock and grief of my parents, the angry gun shots thundering in the neighborhood, and the ghostly, empty playground at my school. …
