When I chose the date for my book release party, the first thing I did was ally with a charity that had something to do with kids. Even though I was not a major entity, it’s amazing how relatively easy it is to get a respected and viable organization (in my case, it was an adolescent obesity program at a prominent children’s hospital) to work with you when you are promising them some money and exposure.…

It’s a fact, not widely acknowledged, that the witch hunts of the 16th and 17th centuries but the development of some modern medicines back several hundred years.
So how can this be when witches had a reputation as evil women, who used black magic and charms to lay curses and do the devil’s work.

Here's another author success story, with Marilyn Wedge talking about getting her article accepted for The Huffington Post:
One thing that worked for me was to buy John Kremer's "15,000 Eyeballs Program" and follow the directions. Here’s why. I never would have thought of becoming a blogger for The Huffington Post.
I admire the…

Stephen Gallup, author of What About the Boy?, describes his initial foray into building an online presence:
I am attempting to initiate online conversations on topics related to my memoir, What About the Boy? A Father’s Pledge to His Disabled Son. To do this, I have begun writing short blog entries and posting them to my website, www.fatherspledge.com. Upon posting them, I then announce their existence on my Facebook page and…

If you want to be in all the online catalogs and bookstores you must get an ISBN. It’s a relatively simple process of filling out a form, paying the fee, and then assigning the title of the book to the ISBN. Sure, I can do that. But here’s the thing. The price in acquiring an ISBN vary widely, as I’ve discovered, just like most things associated with creating the e-book. So far I’ve done only research and spent nothing on this project. Once I’ve gotten everything in order I will give a…

This has been a fun week of reading and writing for me. The content has been the key. Normally I get to see some pretty neat stuff, but when I get to dig into a character I just can’t get enough of, well it is that much more fun and then it turns to brief sadness. Why sadness? The usual thing, I have to wait another year to devour another installment of the series. Douglas Corleone and his character Kevin Corvelli is one of the characters I cannot get enough of. Let get to the…

I have noted that "tagging" on Amazon.com works nicely to get your book up into sight of buyers. Instead of doing book reviews, tagging is a lot easier.
Here how it works for those that don't know. You select words you think someone might use to find your book and add them on the tag feature on your Amazon.com book page.Other people check off each of the boxes you chose-hit the letter "T" twice quickly opening the tag box. You then click the save tags button and you have moved the book…

Yesterday was just plain nuts, nuts, I tell you! Here is a brief recap of yesterday’s events, follow along with me and tell me if it wasn’t nuts. Vincent Zandri was nice enough to almost give away a major plot twist in our collaborated digital short story we just finished called: The Gang That Couldn’t Kindle Straight”. I think he was miffed that I let it spill he used my name and some guy named Tolstoy’s name in the same sentence. The exact context of how he used my name in…

Okay, so I spent some time researching formatters. There also is a big difference in price when it comes to these. Some people charge a flat fee anywhere from $30-$200. There are also people who work hourly at @$25 an hour. Only problem with that is how do you know for real how many hours this person has put in? I know there are computer programs that will convert books automatically in almost no time. The big drawback to these programs is that they don’t often catch every format…

Mark today as the day I set in motion a new venture in my writing career. The production of my e-book. Since most people judge a book by its cover I’ve decided to hire a professional cover designer. I spent some time researching and came up with prices ranging anywhere from $25 to more than a thousand for a custom artist. After much soul-searching and checking my budget I decided to go with a woman who charges $100 flat fee. But for that money I get as many revisions as I want. I…

I've added a second bonus that is really important to this program: How to set up and carry out successful school visits.
Several months ago I did a one-hour consultation with the author of a children's picture book and a children's board book. You can now listen in on this consultation - which featured the 7 most effective ways to market a children's book.
You can order this one-on-one consultation as a solo…

You’re about to be interviewed on radio for the first time. Don’t get nervous just do these simple things to make the interview work for you and sales of your book.Continue
Plan your interview
Have questions and answers prepared and if possible give them to the announcer beforehand. Okay they won’t always use these guidelines but often they’ll at least ask some of the questions (particularly if you’ve made your answers interesting). Try to guess what else…
