A shipwrecked old zombie named Fred,
Had a penchant for eating the dead.
But the island was bare,
He was the only one there.
So he ate his own body instead.

Revenge consumes the Soul in Voice of Conscience, July 14, 2008
By Martha Jette - See all my reviews
Thoughts of revenge can infest the brain, tear open the heart and consume the soul. Such is the case for 45-year-old Ramzi Ozcomert in Behcet Kaya's book "Voice of Conscience." Vivid memories and horrid dreams constantly took him back to a night of terror when he was just 14. His father, mother and soon-to-be-wed sister were so full of life one minute and then suddenly and… Continue

“...don’t you worry, lieutenant, I haven’t forgotten my promise. I will still save you for dessert.” The vampire’s disembodied voice continued, now worming its way between those standing and those sitting. “This evening all I want is to learn about this Sanct that I find so fascinating.
“What I have before me is patently impossible – a man who is not a man… carrying a staff that does not exist. I must… Continue

It's rare today to find an author who does nothing but write for a living. Do you have a 'real' job other than writing, and if so, what is it? What are some other jobs you've had in your life?…
Well, I have just recieved my first professional review for my second book! The person who reviewed my book had a little trouble with my writing style but she said it didn't stop her from enjoying the story iteself so that was good. I was very excited to read the review and you can to on my website.
I have changed my website around so now my reviews are displayed on their own pages for the specified books! Once I have more books in those genres, I will be changing this again lol. But… Continue

And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. If the Son there shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.
John 8:32, 36
One evening I was at the boys’ baseball game, and I noticed that Chase was limping so badly that he couldn't play. All the other boys were out on the field having a good time, and he was sitting in the dugout, twiddling his thumbs. I asked him why he wasn't out on the field playing, and he said his foot hurt. I remembered that he… Continue

Author Ron Adams has taken readers into the world of the sleuth with his excellent and crafty new novel, Key Lime Squeeze. Ron is an artful painter with words as he takes the reader into a sinister world that is really not exactly a hard-boiled crime drama and not exactly a story of the mafia, but a fine and adroitly woven tale that is both familiar and unique. It is indeed a book that I found to be riveting and which kept me asking… Continue

Writing is a job - an atypical job - but still a job. I will stop at 5 p.m., just like any 9 to 5 worker. That's the only way the work gets don.
The advantage is that I am in my own house, sitting at the dining room table, wearing shorts and a T-shirt. And since it is the end of the day and I am doing routine tasks, I have been watching Oprah.
This morning I worked on the final rewrites for my novel, The Gate House. I finished the actual writing almost two years ago. Believe me… Continue

Of all the things I teach people, this is one of the most important- don’t miss this fact: Yesterday IS NOT tomorrow! It really is not! What-ever happened back in your yesterdays does not determine your future. You do!
We all have a past. It has molded us into who we are right now. That is true enough, but we are not done changing yet. If you are alive, you are still growing! Your future begins right where you are at any moment, because at any moment you can change course! You can… Continue

Racial prejudice is a theme in MRS. LIEUTENANT, which takes place in 1970 only six years after the Civil Rights Act became law in the U.S. and only 20 years after the U.S. Army was integrated in the Korean War in 1950.
Racial prejudice is also the theme of the 2006 movie AMAZING GRACE, which my husband and I just watched on Netflix. Although I knew that the song “Amazing Grace” was written by a slave captain who repented of his trade (John Newton around… Continue
After reading the review in the July 10th Daily Variety about HBO’S seven-part miniseries GENERATION KILL starting July 13, I really wished we got HBO so I could watch the series. (And, yes, we finally got Showtime to see SLEEPER CELL and then kept it for THE TUDORS, but I don’t think we’ll get HBO now.)
The review by Brian Lowry praised this mini-series that tells of the first 40 days in 2003 of the war in Iraq. The movie is based on… Continue
Here is a guest post sent today from Iraq by U.S. Army Staff Sergeant Big Tobacco (check out his own blog at www.big-tobacco.blogspot.com):
"Don't take this the wrong way, but people like me don't do things like that. So why do you?"
I'm confused by this statement. I look across the table at my date. Her face is as perfect as a Russian doll. Her blond hair falls in ringlets… Continue
