Trestle Press and Helping Hand Press are pleased and proud to announce the start of a new Amish digital short story series, “Forever Amish”, in November authored by Roger Rhienhiemer and Crystal Linn. Here is a little more about the story and the authors:

“Ava Troyer never really considered the possibility of life outside of the warm, protective Amish community.  Even during her state-mandated schooling through the eighth grade, she would dreamily fantasize about whether any of the…

BIg Daddy Abel Open Mic Volume Five

If you have been following this digital short series, that is your basic stream of consciousness from a very caring human being, you have noticed the size of Open Mic volume 5 is a bit larger, almost twice the size for the same price. To know BDA is to love him; he wears his heart on his sleeve, and this installment is no exception. He was pretty bent back in late August when he was just done writing this and then he lost it to the thieves and gremlins of cyberspace. Since then he has been…

Is There A Puzzle to Be Solved Under Glastonbury Tor?

There is a place - a very special place - located in Glastonbury, a small town in Somerset, England. A place that comes up in many conversations, books and movies. This is not a surprise. After all, the myths and legends that have always surrounded this small community are numerous and well-known.

For Christians, it is believed that Glastonbury is where…

Nicholas A. Rose is the Author of the Ilvenworld Fantasy Series

Nicholas A. Rose has been an avid reader for most of his life and a writer for almost as long. He is the author of the ilvenworld novels and novellas.

He enjoys anything to do with the sea, the outdoors and mountains, all of which he finds inspirational, and the rather more sedentary pastimes of chess, photography, real ale, reading and, of course,…

Karen Anna Vogel “Amish Knitting Circle- Thanksgiving- Volume Three”

I need to be serious with this one. I usually joke about the Amish and my love for them. I don’t want to take away from what is going on here with this series and just talk about the facts jack. This is the third installment in the “Amish Knitting Circle” Series. The first two are called “Beginnings” and “Wedding Season”. To discuss sales for a moment, I need to say thanks to everyone that has been nice enough to support this series, both volume one and volume two are ranked  extremely high…

Memories of Kenya & The Bolter by Frances Osbourne

Memories of Kenya & The Bolter by Frances Osborne

I have mixed memories of my life in Kenya from 1961 to 1982.  On the plus side are my happy recollections of the coast with its golden beaches, the grasslands teaming with wild animals, the lush green highlands.  On the minus side I was always a stranger in a strange land. I missed my family and friends in England and in spite of a privileged lifestyle wanted to live in…

Nigel Bird "Smoke"

I have come to really enjoy the British fiction I have been finding lately. It goes deeper than just my love for Monty Python; it is the way the authors write about life, the manner in which they embrace the struggles, the toughness they exude, and the rawness of their emotions. I find that missing in much of what I read that is produced here in the good old US of A. I know it is there also but the style seems to be, to just gloss over it. The writing I have found of some of Bird’s…

The inmportance Of Biblical Training

2 Timothy 2:2; 15

And these things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also. Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

To answer the implied topical discussion question of why is Biblical Training so importance there are several reasons that come to mind such as one cannot teach what one doesn't know neither can one… Continue

Luca Veste "Liverpool 5"

I have to say that when I got this read it in its entirety it really flowed. My exposure to fiction of this type has been minimal. I had thought I had it all covered: digital short stories, novellas ,full length novels, but I had not read anything like “flash fiction” or stories under 2000 words that were complete stories. They are very interesting, breaths of fresh air. I enjoy the quick blast, and when a bunch of them are strung together with a common thread like Liverpool, well then it…

We're Not Blended - We're Pureed - Diana Lesire Brandmeyer Marty C. Lintvedt, Authors

We’re Not Blended We’re Pureed – Review by Martha A. Cheves, Author of Stir, Laugh, Repeat and Think With Your Taste Buds

A circle is a symbol of unity, eternity, and completeness. The wedding ring represents eternal love and the persistently renewed promises of a couple. Some Scandinavian women wear three bands: one each for engagement, wedding, and motherhood. In medieval England, a bridegroom would slide the ring partway up his bride’s thumb, index, and middle finger, saying “In… Continue

Ask Mallory Petersen

Darren here. You know, I’m Mallory Petersen’s secretary and office manager. I’ve hacked into Mr. Brayton’s blog this week because I want to promote my boss’ latest adventure, Beta.

Often times she’s told me I am much more than a secretary and I do accomplish a lot for both her investigator practice and her taekwondo school. I make sure the bills are paid on time and I book her motel accommodations whenever she travels to tournaments or business seminars.

However, she’s the… Continue

Hated Indie authors

Once again, I’ve made the cardinal sin of trying to market

my books on forums and threads, and once again, a bunch of people are sending

me nasty replies. Which is fine if these forums and threads had a policy of no

author marketing, but they don’t. I learned early on that trying to post of

those sites gets you a base of enemies real fast. But what still confuses me is

the length that some people will go to, to make you feel bad for even trying to

distribute your…
