Wow! This is one of the best books I’ve read in a long time. For a first novel, Ginny Jaques sure knows how to grab the reader right from the instant the book begins and not let go. The description is magnificent, the characters varied and believable, and the action is well paced. Despite the fact that this is a really long book, I didn’t want to stop reading until I reached the final page.
The book is set in the not too distant future when a worldwide government has been…

YAHSHUA'S BRIDGE is the second in The Master’s Wall series by Sandi Rog. Set in ancient Rome, the book takes place during the turbulent years of the early Christian church. Here we meet Alexander, a young slave who also happens to be the son of his master. The book spans twelve years of his life, full of interesting descriptions of Roman customs as well as the sometimes sordid truth of what life for a Christian was like at that time. His story is woven together…

This is the true story of a courageous single woman’s quest to adopt two international children, despite what often seemed like insurmountable obstacles. Lorilyn Roberts weaves a tale that is nothing short of inspiring. Heartfelt, beautifully written and engaging from cover to cover, this is a story of perseverance, tenacity, and immeasurable love on the part of a broken divorcee who follows her dream to become a mother. In the process she learns what it means to trust in God completely,…

The Incredible Tale of Chief Harold Brooks Who Survived the Wasp-Hobson Tragedy

In between my primary duties as Recruit Company Commander I was assigned a “hold job” to work with other Company Commanders in a human relations project that the Navy had begun. This afforded me a bit more free time than my main duty as Company Commander which often meant long…

Do you know if you write a page a day that within one year you will have written a book? How many times have I heard that one? If that one book takes a year to write then the revision process would have to take many years. Truth is, writing a first draft is the easy part. I can usually belt one out in a few months. But the revision; forgetta’bout it. That’s the time consuming stuff, though I am getting better at it as I get older (and hopefully wiser). I’m also getting better as a…

There are so many vital things you have to consider when writing a novel. However, as a short story writer I want to discuss the importance of the setting. The reason I called my short story series Tales From The Longcroft Estate was that I wanted a clear place in mind, even if it…

A few days ago I decided that I was going to take a walk. As I started off on the walk I did not realize just how long the walk was. When I completed the walk I looked up the distance and realized that I had walked three miles. As I walked it was cold and windy. My ears were aching. I was sometimes inches away from heavy traffic. Somehow though I kept pressing my way to my destination. I thought about stopping and turning around at least three times, but I continued on. My legs were itching…

It was while I was recovering from a particularly nasty motorcycle accident last year that I decided to write the book. I had been threatening to put pen to paper and write an autobiography that would chronicle my many adventures and mishaps during a twenty year Navy career but had never done anything about it. The project would be just the ticket to keep me busy while all…

Hey everyone! My short story was a winner for the Goodreads YA fiction contest, and I wanted to say thank you! The story is below! Let me know what you think!
Meet The Reaper
I always said I would die in snow. God, I hated that stuff. Pounds and pounds of icy-cold crap that everyone in town called ‘pretty’ and ‘lovely.’ There was nothing pretty about it. And that old adage about sitting in front of a roaring fire…

As I looked beyond the fields of trees and dry land, there, over in a gaze was a woman standing there waving! Looking deeper, she resembled a frighten women who looked familiar!
“Is that me,” A whisper came into my mind! There in back of her was a man with a gun! It was Creighton! Her lips started moving, shouting out a warning that her life was at an end!
I screamed franticly to help her! But at the same time she was yelling for help, not for herself! She…

Hit 6,000 words today on my new novel. It's an easy and exciting write because anything can happen in a world that isn't real. I see the book getting a little deep in the philosophical area once the characters begin to realize the nature of their existences and how it all could just disappear. We'll see where the story takes me. Right now, I'm still developing characters and relationships and setting the scene for a wild ride through the possible and impossible.
