Getting the word out about your new book can be overwhelming. With so many options for promoting your book and countless ways to spend money, how does one chose? The most effective approach to tackling the plethora of options available to you, is to zero in a select few and doing them well.
1. Get local and dig in. It's tempting to want to be everywhere at once. Start with your back yard and hold events at the public library, local book clubs, and local book stores.…

I can’t believe it’s been nearly a year since I wrote ‘the end’ on a new novel. When I finished my last book, AS IT IS IN HEAVEN, I decided to heed my own advice from the book and spend more time enjoying life and the outdoors and less time isolated from the world, writing. As the theme of the book states, “enjoy each day to its fullest”.
I knew starting a new book would consume me, and since I finished AS IT IS IN HEAVEN at the beginning of spring, I didn’t want to lose a…

It’s been a while since I posted my thoughts. Like many writers often do, I decided to take a break from marketing and social networking and concentrate on editing and revising my books. For the last three months, I have done nothing but re-read and tweak my stories until every single page entices the reader to want more.
I finished the revisions, let them stew and mature for a while, and then read them again, just to be certain they are ready for the world market. I believe…

It was very exciting last week when my contemporary suspense novel, DROP OUT hit #5 on the paid Amazon best seller list. I was thrilled to have Nicholas Sparks as my #4 competitor. How I got to this list is no secret. I booked promotional spots on high-traffic websites and spent the days leading up to the spots marketing and promoting my a*s off. I stayed at that #5 position for an entire 36 hours before slowly slipping back into the 100’s; about where I am now.
Did I ever in…

So as my promotional blitz winds down and sales are beginning to slow to normal, I got all the way to #5 in the country right behind #4 Nicholas Sparks. Not bad.

Amazing! Just when I thought my writing career was over; just when I started to slip into a deep, dark hole of despair; a spark of opportunity reignites it. It started months ago when I realized that pumping out twelve novels in a three year period can sometimes create immature and unseasoned work. So, after I finished my last novel I decided to take time off from writing and take a fresh look at my large collection of work.
I began by re-reading and editing my entire three…
