Send out monthly press releases online and fax them to your local TV, radio, newspapers and magazines. Some you may even be able to email. Then follow up the local media with a call 1-2 days later. Ask if they received your press release on....
Make sure you have something newsworthy to say. They don't want to interview you about your book. They want to interview you about something timely and how it ties to your book. So think of something catchy that will make them want you on NOW.

I highly recommend using 24-7PressRelease.com for online releases. Their services are exceptional and I've been using them for years. I highly recommend the $89 release with pics and video. It is worth it. But if that's too high, try the $49 plan. You can also send free releases but they don't get as much attention.
